WP Robl. Since players are being paid as entertainers, they are expected to either give a little action, or at least be somewhat talkative at the table. Bill Reynolds and Andrew Robl are both "internet players" but the difference in terms of how they approached the opportunity to appear on the show couldn't be any more different. But now suggesting I wasted productions time and money - come on. With that said he was totally out of line to call the clock on me in the hand vs Daniel. I thought the same of him when he was on hsp I don't know him or have anything against him but he's just not for tv. Production and the floor would never let that fly. But simply because of the fact that they have the style of losing players. And when I first met him a few years ago I was amazed at how down to earth and humble he was - he was the real deal. Tony G was way out of line after making that 50k bet. If you ever play in a 6 handed game where 5 of the people are straddling, if you chose not to straddle that is your right, but you are absolutely going to be called a nit. Nit doesn't mean "tight" btw, a nit is someone who could care less about whats best for the game and gives no "action. Straddles and loose action are good for the game, and that's why it needs to remain nit proof. On the first season of the big game I was a backup alternate. Away from the cameras he is also a gentleman. I read every strategy article he ever wrote and found them humorous and insightful. I doubt I've ever heard the word "class" and "Tony G" in the same sentence but nonetheless still classless on his part and DN is a douche for joining in. We knew when Robl sat down that he had a terrible reputation for taking way too long on each and every decision, even the most elementary decisions. I personally feel Daniel has a personal vendetta against me and is trying to justify his attacks on me with half true fact and I feel I need to defend myself. Robl goes onto Big Game, gets harassed by Daniel and Tony calling the clock and saying he takes too much time. The moment he sits down in a game online - at any stakes - the game instantly fills with a 20 person waitlist. At the time I did not mind at all to be honest - I was just happy to be in a game with Daniel and Tony G. I don't dislike Robl as a person at all. This was not what I wanted - and I felt a little bit disappointed. Dude gets owned by every player on every TV show, so ends up head hunting the loose cannon here every episode. And Tony G was way out of line calling the clock the way he did but as posted earlier its all about entertainment. Very nitty in a game like to not straddle when everyone else is though.. I told them that I would lose a significant amount of money in opportunity cost if I missed playing online for a week to sit on the set, but I would still like to help and play on the show. The fact that he didn't is just plain nitty and both Tony and I called him on it. But, on the point of straddling, I agree with Andrew. This game wasn't created so 5 guys would give extra action so we can pad Robl's pockets. I did write a blog about the issue of televised poker and how it must remain nit proof. Pretty hardcore rips on daniel in his latest blog regarding his appearance on "The Big Game" Daniel and Tony both talk shit about him tony gets a photshopped picture of an alligator chewing on andrews beheaded head and writes a blog about him. If they want more money on the table, they should raise the blinds. Robl did absolutely nothing to add to the show, in fact, he burned up production dollars, not to the extent of a Phil Hellmuth, but with Hellmuth, at least you have the entertainment factor. Written by Daniel Negreanu: I haven't seen the shows yet but I obviously know what you guys are referring to. It does create bigger pots - after all the stakes are doubled but it also halves effective stacks - making the game less strategically deep. Negreanu only wants to straddle when stuck, and only wants to play with guys like Tony who play really lag and don't care about money, whereas Robl is bad for TV cuz he has to play with his own money and actually think. Pretty pathetic. Everyone else pays the bill once in a while, but one guy refuses to despite having plenty of money to do so. I think he's a nice kid and his blog response to me doesn't change my opinion of him. I consider Tony G a friend of mine. But when the cameras come up he Hams it up big time. Prior to the hand vs him and Tony G I did not take over 30 seconds to make any decision. But I think after this blog post - the chances of me playing again are quite slim. Screamed at by Tony G and berated by Daniel N. As for entertainment, i find it entertaining when someone is thinking about a big bet, it gives me time to think what he is thinking, what he is putting the other guy on etc. More than that Pros both online and live constantly lick their chops when he is at their table in both tournaments and cash games I hear the talk. If I was at a table with 5 Andrew Robl's I wouldn't dare straddle! Tony called the clock on him not based solely on how long he took on that particular hand, but Robl's habitual abuse of the amount of time he takes on every hand. We all know how much of on ass Tony G is on TV, but to my surprise, Negreanu is getting more and more annoying every time I see him now. More than that it also makes certain players play tighter as the stakes are significantly higher and the money means more to them. Was bad enough when in the hand vs him, but calling the clock in a cash game in a hand he wasn't even involved in was disgraceful. It's also important to note that a TV game isn't a regular game. As far as Daniel claiming I took a long time to think on every decision - this is simply untrue. Even as an alternate. With that said I understand Daniel not wanting me on the show, when he has to play against players who actually earn their living playing poker - not poker personalities - he is laughably outclassed - and ends up looking quite bad. I think the production team on the Big Game has done a great job putting tog other an entertaining and action packed show and I thank for them for getting a chance to play. So they comped me a room at South Point where the game is filmed , and I happily waited around for a week to fill any vacant slot - which I got to do on this episode. He has realized this and he has worked hard on his game over the past year - vastly improving it, and I applaud him for that. I actually like watching Tony G lately, but he was wayyyy outta line toward Robl. He basically sucked it up and even told them he's just there to make money when Dan bitched at him for not straddling. This consisted of me being basically on call to play on any day they needed me. And the manner in which he did it made it even worse standing up and yelling etc. If six guys go to dinner and one guy never ever pays, he's a nit. Pretty disappointing, especially when he's supposed to be one of the ambassadors of poker. I think many players who are play on TV agree with me - but they are afraid to stand up to someone like Daniel who is a poker icon - and who has a lot of say about who gets on some shosw. Then he goes on 2p2 and basically attacks me at least this is how I feel. Remember your roots bro? And yea Daniel has lost alot of respect from me and most of his former fans. On the most recent episode of the big game andrew robl good2cu gets the clocked called on him twice. I need to line my pockets somehow. I called PH a nit when he did that in a previous episode.{/INSERTKEYS}{/PARAGRAPH} If the game is over run by nits, then you lose Tony G, and you also lose any real action. There isn't a private game in the world that would invite a guy like that to their game, and The Big Game is just that, a private, invite only game. If you are going to dish it out, you need to be able to take it. As for not straddling - whenever Daniel gets stuck he goads everyone in game into straddling. Thought it was incredibly ironic that DN has the gall to say Robl is being scummy or whatever for not straddling. Can you imagine what would of happened if the situations were reserved and Tony G called the clock on Daniel after one minute? I think all of these things are not only bad for me - but bad for the game. I personally feel that Daniel is a tilter and plays much worse when stuck. I was thanked for doing this - told I looked great on TV and was promised I would get a slot not as an alternate on the next season of the show. He is quick-witted, charming, funny and extremely intelligent, and one of the most successful businessman in the poker industry. But I still wanted to play on the show and was happy to help out in anyway I could. It is not something you throw in to give someone else an advantage. When Robl sat down on The Big Game he talked a lot of smack. I still don't blame andrew I blame the production crew that invited him. If Tony G or Lex had decided not to straddle i doubt DN would have been so vocal, he has clearly got a problem with Robl. After the last few years since I met Daniel, I can no longer say I see him as humble and down to earth. Bill was witty, limped, straddled, and did the best he could to be entertaining. I dont know about Robl but if its me i actually take more time over each decision just to piss him off. If i remember correctly he called it in under a minute - and with the amount of money at stake I consider it totally out of line. {PARAGRAPH}{INSERTKEYS}Asked by cantshaikme. Which is ironic because during these years I feel that the game of poker has passed him by. I'm not a particular fan of any of the players mentioned. As a side note, for every extra minute Robl sits and stares at the flop, that costs production a significant amount of money. I've played more years than most of the players on the show have been alive and straddling has always been an "option" that is used by the straddler in particular situations to gain a perceived or real advantage.
